Wings Take ESL One Home

In the recent finale of ESL One Manila 2016, a rather less popular Wings Gaming beat renowned Dota 2 squad, Team Liquid. The former was able to snag a clean sheet and take the cup home all for themselves.

It has been a year since the formation of Wings Gaming. The squad members have played with one another for almost a year now. Surprisingly however, they have been unable to win any tournament or league. The ESL One 2016 was the second LAN tournament Wings Gaming was playing and is the first ever LAN victory achieved by the organization. Their first LAN was the WCA where they ended up defeating Team Secret at a game, a decent achievement. We can say that Wings have been unlocking experience and skill points overtime and now, finally take something home.

ESL Dota 2’s official Twitter page seemed pretty enthusiastic about Wings Gaming taking the cup home.

“WHAT A PERFORMANCE! #WingsGaming go from the qualifier to Grand Final Champions of #ESLOne Manila! GGWP”

Good game well played indeed. Wings was able to not only defeat Team Liquid in the final, they aced the match up 3 to 0.

The first game was not much of a challenge for Wings Gaming. They got first blood and slowly took the game for themselves with Team Liquid not being able to pull themselves together. The second and third games saw a bit of competition with Team Liquid getting the edge initially. But Wings were able to gather themselves and counter to grab the wins.
