WePlay is one of the more renowned tournaments that are hosted for Dota 2. Although the event might not be up there with regard to the prize pools, it offers a decent amount of prestige to the winning as well as the participating teams.
Team Liquid, it seems, will not be able to have the opportunity to bask itself in WePlay glory, since they pulled out of the tournament just a day before it started.
WePlay season 3 will not see Team Liquid entering the Lan finals at Kiev, Ukraine. This also means that they forgo the $200,000 prize pool. This seems like a rather bad throw by the squad but they look like they have legitimate reason for bowing out of the WePlay tournament.
The eSports organization revealed that one of its squad members is suffering from an ailment and is completely unable to compete after ESL One Manila a few days ago. Therefore, the team entirely will not be playing the LAN finals.
The team let the situation be known publicly on their Liquid Dota forums.
“Team Liquid were forced to withdraw from WePlay League LAN finals due to a serious sickness of one of their players in Manila. According to team manager, the doctors strictly prohibited one of the players from any activities in the upcoming days. Other details of the sickness as well as the player’s name will be kept in private.”
Although the post declares that it will not give the player’s name, it goes on to suggest that Adrian ‘FATA-‘ Trinks is suffering from ailment.
