Hearthstone Invitational by eSports Arena

The card turn-based MOBA is all set for another sealed tournament kicking off pretty soon. The game has been part of the eSports scene for a while with tournaments and leagues to its name that range from regionals to global scale.

eSports Arena has decided that it will soon be hosting a rather uniquely structured tournament for Hearthstone. The system that will be followed in the tournament is set on poker style format with a rather strong focus on deck building and card drawing. The tournament is invitation based, as such players will be picked by the host organization itself.

This new league is intended to highlight Hearthstone players like Jeffrey “Trump” Shih, James “Firebat” Kostesich, Andrey “Reynad” Yanyuk, Cong “StrifeCro” Shu and Victor “Vlps” Lopez. These players were picked according to their more prominent ability to be able to build rather spectacular decks in less moves, with a focus on card choice. A sixth participant for the tournament is yet to be announced.

A single match up is going to have players open up Hearthstone packs and subsequently produce 3 whole decks to play with. Every player is going to be tested on his/her ability to craft good decks with appropriate knowledge. As such, playing a game in this format is not natively supported by Hearthstone.

The tournament is going to kick off on the 14th of April, 2016. The format is pretty different, let’s see how this pans out.
