A new expansion, Whispers Of The Old Gods has been finally released for the world of Hearthstone by Blizzard on the game’s second anniversary after a few weeks of rumors.
The expansion will contain 134 new cards. According to Warcraft lore, the Old Gods are quite powerful and evil creatures that have the power to corrupt any mortal, and due to this are chained under the surface of Azeroth. Yet, they drive people crazy by their whispers hence the name Whispers Of The Old Gods. The four legendary Gods that have been introduced are Yogg-Saron, C’Thun, Y’Shaarj and N’Zoth.
According to Blizzard, players will receive three Old God card packs if they log in during the expansion’s launch period. They may also get C’Thun for free. Among the 134 new cards there are some corrupted versions of classic cards too.
This marks a series of major changes for Hearthstone. These changes include the introduction of Standard and Wild formats, that will definitely change the face of matchmaking in Hearthstone.
Although there is no specific date for the launch of the expansion, Blizzard hints that the cards from Whispers Of The Old Gods may be revealed between April and May. This also marks the longest break between expansions as Whispers Of The Old Gods comes after last year’s League of Explorers.
Other changes include nerfs and buffs to the current cards. Blizzard is not quite sure where to start with this yet, but we can only hope they make the correct decisions. In addition to this, players can refund their cards for their arcane dust value and obtain new and shiny cards instead.
