EVO 2016 is shaping up to be one of the biggest gaming events of the year. Recently, the organizer for the tournament tweeted the motto for the competition this year to be “Go big or Go home”.
Now, it looks like the official lineup for the tournament has been revealed. Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar. The EVO 2016 event is going to include the following games:
- Street Fighter V
- Super Smash Bros. Melee
- Super Smash Bros. for WiiU
- Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator
- Mortal Kombat X
- Pokken Tournament
- Killer Instinct
- Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
- Tekken 7: Fated Retribution
Cuellar has also revealed that Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mortal Kombat X, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator are going to be the five games that are going to be a part of the main event of the competition.
The EVO event this year is going to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 15 to July 17 2016. The competition began first in 1996 an has been held annually every year since 2000. The event this year is going to have a change of venue, or rather, venues. The pool rounds are going to be hosted on Friday and Saturday at the Las Vegas Convention Center and the finals, which are going to be held Sunday, are going to happen in front of a big audience of 12 thousand people at the Mandalay Bay Event Center.
Possibly the biggest addition to the lineup this year is Pokken Tournament. The game, which is set to release Match 18, is going to be a resource heavy one since it will require two Nintendo Wii Us in order make the local multiplayer work. Also, there are concerns about whether the game is going to be up to the mark to be included in such a large scale event but it looks like the EVO team is pretty confident that Bandai Namco will be able to deliver on Pokken Tournament.
